Chase Field in downtown Phoenix, AZ is the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks Major League Baseball team. Opened in 1998 to coincide with the Diamondbacks first season, Chase Field has hosted many major events, including the 2001 and 2023 World Series.
A recent sports road trip to Phoenix took me to two events at Chase Field – a Green Day concert and a Diamondbacks game vs. the San Francisco Giants. I spent a lot of time in downtown Phoenix around Chase Stadium and am happy to share my experiences with you.
When visiting Phoenix to see a Diamondbacks home game or a major concert, you’ll want to find a good hotel close to the stadium. To help you choose, I’ve found the best hotels near Chase Field.
Choosing a good Chase Field hotel is just part of the story – you’ll need money left over for game tickets. If you have limited funds, I strongly recommend spending more on your concert or Diamondbacks tickets and less on your hotel room. Chances are good that you won’t even remember your hotel room, but you will definitely remember the great seats you had for the Diamondbacks game at Chase Field!

Where Is Chase Field?
Chase Field has a very convenient location on the east end of downtown Phoenix. It’s also right next door to Footprint Center – home of the Phoenix Suns NBA team.
Being close to downtown Phoenix means that Diamondbacks fans will have an abundance of hotels to choose from, as well as a good variety of restaurants and bars – especially around the stadium.
Additionally, Chase Field is well served by the Valley Metro Light Rail as well as close proximity to the Phoenix airport and major highways, making it really easy to travel to and from the venue. Staying at a hotel near Chase Field means you can enjoy both the event and the best of downtown Phoenix.
That said, I found downtown Phoenix pretty boring, so I recommend you fill your schedule with some of the other fun stuff to do in Phoenix, such as a Chase Field Stadium tour or an offroad desert adventure.

The 5 Best Hotels Near Chase Field
Ok, with all that out of the way, lets get to my list of the five best hotels near Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ. Keep in mind, these aren’t necessarily the closest hotels to Chase Field, but rather the best overall hotels in the surrounding area.
1. Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix
Just a 7-minute walk from the stadium, the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix is the closest hotel to Chase Field. The Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix has a great location – not only is it just three blocks from the Diamondbacks stadium, but it’s also right across the street from the Footprint Center – home of the Phoenix Suns NBA team and the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA.
It’s also in the same complex as CityScape, a downtown Phoenix hotspot with plenty of bars, restaurants and shopping.
You can also enjoy some food and drinks, while you enjoy the warm Phoenix sun from your rented cabana next to the rooftop pool. As mentioned, downtown Phoenix isn’t the most exciting place in the world, so a rooftop pool is a great place to hang out and enjoy the Arizona sun before or after the game.
The Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix is a great hotel choice if you are in town to catch a Diamondbacks game or a concert at Chase Field.
2. Hyatt Regency Phoenix
The second-closest hotel to Chase Field, the Hyatt Regency Phoenix is another excellent choice for your boys’ trip to Phoenix. An easy 9 minute walk from your hotel to the Diamondbacks stadium, the Hyatt Regency Phoenix hotel is also right across the street from the Phoenix Convention Center. This makes it a really convenient hotel if you are visiting Phoenix for work and want to sneak in a Diamondbacks game too!
There’s a cool variety of rooms at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix hotel, including some which have private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. If you are visiting Phoenix with a buddy, you may appreciate having a 2-bedroom hotel room, so you can each snore in peace.
One of the coolest features about the Hyatt Regency Phoenix hotel is the rooftop restaurant. The Compass restaurant is round and offers 360 degree views of the city, including amazing views of Chase Field and the Footprint Center. The restaurant slowly revolves, ensuring that you enjoy the full 360 degree view during your meal. What an exciting place to eat before or after your Diamondbacks game!
Finally, the Hyatt Regency Phoenix Hotel is just one block away from Majerle’s Sports Grill, one of Phoenix’s premier sports bars. They offer great food and a ton of TV’s to watch the pre-game show or the highlights after your game.
3. Residence Inn by Marriott Phoenix Downtown
Just one block further than the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix, the Residence Inn by Marriott Phoenix Downtown hotel is another excellent hotel located within easy walking distance of Chase Field.
I don’t know about you, but I hate eating out three meals a day when I travel – it’s just too much. One of the best features of the hotel rooms in the Residence Inn Phoenix downtown is the full kitchens – complete with a fridge and stovetop.
The Residence Inn offers a free breakfast, so I’d take full advantage of that. Then I’d use the kitchen facilities to self-cater lunch or dinner. Not only is this a healthier eating strategy on a sprots road trip, but it’s also cheaper, allowing you to spend more on your Diamondbacks tickets!
4. The Westin Phoenix Downtown
Starting to get a little bit further away from the stadium now, the Westing Phoenix Downtown hotel is still just a 15 minute walk from Chase Field. A relatively new hotel, the Westin hotel features spacious, modern rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, providing impressive views of the city.
Cool features of this Chase Field hotel include a rooftop outdoor pool, which gives great views of the surrounding downtown Phoenix buildings. You’ll also enjoy a large, well-equipped fitness centre complete with Peloton bikes.
If you are looking for a great sports bar, the Majerle’s Sports Grill (mentioned above) is on the way from the Westin to Chase Field.
And, of course, my favorite thing about staying at a Westin hotel is their Heavenly Bed. I’ve slept on many Heavenly Beds at Westin hotels and I love them.
5. Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix Downtown
Located on the same city block at the Westin Phoenix Downtown hotel, the Hampton Inn & Suites hotel is another solid choice for your Arizona Diamondbacks hotel.
Downtown Phoenix hotels can get expensive, especially if there is an event on in the area. While I would not call the Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix Downtown a cheap hotel for your Arizona Diamondbacks game, it’s going to be one of the cheaper options on my list.
The Hampton Inn is one of the few hotels on this list of Chase Field hotels which offers free breakfast.
Budget Friendly Downtown Phoenix Hotels for Diamondbacks Games
As mentioned, one strategy I often follow on my sports road trips, is to spend as little as possible on my hotel so I can get better tickets for the game. As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, the downtown Phoenix hotels can get very expensive on Diamondbacks home game days.
If you are balking at the nightly cost of a hotel near Chase Field, why not try looking a little further afield. I went to two events at Chase Field during my sports road trip to Phoenix. I didn’t want to pay a premium rate for a hotel super close to the stadium, so I saved money by staying a little further away.
Here are the two affordable Chase Field hotels where I stayed:
Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown
On my arrival day to Phoenix, I went to a Green Day concert at Chase Field. Given this was a travel day, I wanted a hotel close to Chase Field, but not super-expensive either. Given the concert was sold-out, it was a challenge finding an affordable hotel room near the stadium, but I settled on Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown.
Although it was the most affordable good hotel near Chase Field, it wasn’t too far away. It’s only a 14 minute walk, which makes it just as close as the Westin hotel and the Hampton Inn.
The Hyatt Place was a good hotel – there’s nothing overly fancy or notable about it, but I enjoyed my stay.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Phoenix Dwtn
On the final night of my Phoenix sports road trip, I went back to Chase Field to catch the Diamondbacks host the San Francisco Giants. This time, I got a little more aggressive in my search for an affordable hotel near Chase Field. For my Diamondbacks hotel, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Phoenix Dwtn.
1.4 miles away from Chase Field, the Holiday Inn is about a 30 minute walk to the ballpark. I enjoyed my walk to the stadium, but after the evening game was over, rather than walk back in the dark, I hopped on an Uber Scooter. It only took me 6 minutes to get back to the hotel and only cost roughly $6!
The Holiday Inn Express offers free breakfast, which I appreciated having before I headed back to the Phoenix airport for my morning flight home.
Chase Field Tickets
Now that you have your Chase Field hotel picked out, it’s time to pick up your event tickets. Don’t forget, regardless of whether you want to attend an Arizona Diamondbacks game, or one of the rare concerts, we encourage you to spend the lion’s share of your road trip budget on your event tickets (and less on hotels).
