Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin is arguably one of the most famous sports stadiums in the world. Considered holy ground to many sports fans, Lambeau Field is home to the community-owned Green Bay Packers. A stadium which holds over 80,000 fans in a city of just over 300,000 citizens – the story just doesn’t get better than this!
I’ve been a Packers fan for nearly 30 years now and I’ve answered the call to see the Packers play at Lambeau Field several times. The experience was everything I could have ever hoped for. For many fans, a pilgrimage to Lambeau Field to see the Green Bay Packers is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you also feel the call to Lambeau, you’ll want to do your trip to Green Bay right.
When visiting Green Bay to see a Packers home game, you’ll want to find a good hotel close to the stadium. To help you choose, I’ve found the best hotels near Lambeau Field.
Choosing a good Lambeau Field hotel is just part of the story – you’ll need money left over for game tickets. If you have limited funds, I strongly recommend spending more on your Packers tickets and less on your hotel room. Chances are good that you won’t even remember your hotel room, but you will definitely remember the great seats you had for the Packers game at Lambeau Field!

Where Is Lambeau Field?
One of the things I love most about Lambeau Field is where it is. It’s not in downtown Green Bay, or on a fancy waterfront location; Lambeau Field is located in the middle of the suburbs – surrounded by residential houses on all sides. One minute you’re just walking down a perfectly normal street, and the next, you’re staring at the most famous football stadium in the world. Incredible!
Staying at a hotel near Lambeau Field means that fans traveling to Green Bay won’t need to worry about parking or finding an elusive rideshare before and after their Packers game.
Tips for Getting a Green Bay Hotel near Lambeau Field
Keep in mind that Green Bay is a small city and can only support a limited number of hotels. Once you decide you are going to Green Bay for a Packers game, book your Lambeau Field hotel as early as possible, as they tend to sell out quickly!
If you find all the Lambeau hotels sold out, or are shocked at how expensive they are on home game weekends, keep reading for some alternate places to stay for a Packers game.
The 5 Best Hotels Near Lambeau Field
Ok, all that said, lets get to my list of the five best hotels near Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. Keep in mind, these aren’t necessarily the closest hotels near Lambeau Field, but rather the best overall hotels in the surrounding area.
1. Lodge Kohler
Location-wise, you won’t find a better Lambeau Field hotel than Lodge Kohler. Located right across the street from the landmark stadium, it’s the closest hotel to Lambeau Field. It’s also conveniently located right next to Titletown, allowing you to enjoy all the festivities before and after Packer home fans. The Hinterland Brewery is a popular Titletown brewpub just minutes from the hotel.
It’s not all about location though… despite being the closest hotel to Lambeau Field, Lodge Kohler is also an excellent hotel with many great amenities. If you’re a big stadium nerd like me, you’ll love dining at the Taverne in the Sky, where you can enjoy amazing views of Lambeau Field, while enjoying some fine dining.
With it’s close proximity to Lambeau and Titletown, Lodge Kohler is the perfect base for your sports road trip to Green Bay. Note, that if you want to book a room at Lodge Kohler for a Packers home game, you’ll need to call them direct to make a reservation. Details can be found on their webpage:
2. Hilton Garden Inn Green Bay
Next on my list of the best hotels near Lambeau Field is the Hilton Garden Inn Green Bay. It’s another Green Bay hotel with an amazing location. It’s not right across the street from the stadium like Lodge Kohler, but Packers fans will love the very interesting 10-minute walk from the Hilton hotel to Lambeau Field.
The walk to Lambeau takes you past Ray Nitschke Field and Clarke Hinkle Field, the two outdoor practice fields for the Green Bay Packers. You’ll also pass the Don Hutson Center, which is the indoor practice facility for the team.
If you want to enjoy a cold beverage and a meal before or after the Packers game, the Hilton Garden Inn Green Bay is a very short walk from popular spots like Stadium View Bar & Grille and Anduzzi’s Sports Club.
The Hilton Garden Inn Green Bay offers spacious rooms, an indoor pool, and a fitness center, so you can unwind after a long day of tailgating. With a great location and comfortable amenities, it’s an ideal choice for Packer fans when they visit Green Bay.
3. SpringHill Suites Green Bay
Just down the street from the Hilton Garden Inn, the SpringHill Suites Green Bay is another solid choice for a hotel near Lambeau Field. Location wise, it offers Packer fans the same interesting walk past the Packers training facilities and the close proximity to several good sports bars.
One thing I like about the SpringHill Suites Green Bay hotel is that you can get hotel rooms with separate bedrooms. This is a nice feature for a boy’s trip to Green Bay – you and your buddy can each have your own bedrooms. It’s sometimes a little weird sharing a single room with your friends.
Packer fans can begin their day with a complimentary hot breakfast. If you overdo it, you can work it off in their indoor heated swimming pool or the fitness center.
4. Hampton Inn Green Bay Stadium
Also a very short 10-minute walk to the stadium, the Hampton Inn is another solid option for a hotel near Lambeau Field.
If you are looking for some Green Bay Packers tailgating action, you can join the pre-game fun at The Bar. Just a short walk away from the Hampton Inn Green Bay Stadium hotel, The Bar puts on an all-inclusive VIP Tailgating Party, starting 3 hours before each game.
With complimentary breakfast and well-equipped rooms, the Hampton Inn Green Bay Stadium hotel is a great option for friends going to a Packers game.
5. Residence Inn by Marriott Green Bay Downtown
This Green Bay hotel is 2 miles from Lambeau, which might be getting a little far for some Packers fans. But, I think the Residence Inn by Marriott Green Bay Downtown is a good option to check out if all the Lambeau Field hotels listed above are already sold out for game day.
The Residence Inn by Marriott Green Bay Downtown is located on a beautiful property by a marina on the Fox River. The National Railway Museum, one of Green Bay’s top attractions, is right next door. Although it’s not within easy walking distance of Lambeau Field, it is within easy walking distance of downtown Green Bay’s restaurants and bars.
As I’m sure you’re starting to discover, it can get expensive going to a Green Bay Packers home game. Staying at the Residence Inn by Marriott Green Bay Downtown helps your budget with lower nightly room rates than the hotels right next to Lambeau.
In addition, the rooms at the Residence Inn have kitchens, so you can save money by cooking your own meals. All meals except for breakfast that is, as you’ll enjoy a complimentary full hot breakfast.
Budget Friendly Green Bay Hotels for Packers Games
As mentioned, one strategy I follow on my sports road trips, is to spend as little as possible on my hotel so I can get better tickets for the game. As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, the Green Bay hotels can get very expensive on Packer home game weekends, if you’re lucky enough to find a hotel near Lambeau at all.
If you are getting heartburn looking at the nightly cost of a hotel near Lambeau Field, why not try looking a little further afield. The little city of Appleton, WI is just 30 miles south of Lambeau Field on the I-41.
Getting a hotel in Appleton means you’ll need to drive to and from the game, and you’ll need to find stadium parking, but the huge benefit is that you’ll save a ton of money. Rooms in Appleton during Green Day Packers home game can be up to 75% cheaper than Lambeau Field hotels.
The next time I come to Lambeau for a Packers game, I wouldn’t be surprised to see me staying in Appleton. I just can’t bring myself to pay what the hotels near Lambeau Field are charging per night on game day weekends.
Where I Stayed near Lambeau Field
I’ve been on two separate sports road trips to Green Bay to watch the Packers play.
My first trip to Green Bay was booked through a tour company that arranged my entire Green Bay Packers trip. We stayed at the Tundra Lodge, which is a family-friendly hotel with a huge waterpark about a mile from the stadium. I thought it was a really nice hotel, but it didn’t quite make the cut for this list of the best hotels near Lambeau Field.
The second time I went on a boy’s trip to Green Bay was part of a larger self-booked sports trip which included watching a Cubs game at Wrigley, a Notre Dame college football game, the Packers game, and a Monday Night Football game in Chicago.
As mentioned above, I refused to pay for a hotel near Lambeau Field – the price was just too insane. We had watched the Notre Dame college football game the day prior to the Packers game, so we drove from South Bend to our cheap hotel in Manitowoc – a small city on Lake Michigan just 45 minutes from Lambeau Field. As with my Appleton suggestion above, being this far from Lambeau Field made our hotel much more affordable.
After the afternoon Packers game was over, we drove to our downtown Chicago hotel, which was a much more affordable hotel than we could find around Lambeau. This hotel was our base for the MNF game at Soldier Field the next day.
Lambeau Field Tickets
Now that you have your Lambeau Field hotel picked out, it’s time to pick up your event tickets. Don’t forget, regardless of whether you want to attend a Green Bay Packers game, or one of the rare outdoor concerts, we encourage you to spend the lion’s share of your road trip budget on your event tickets (and less on hotels).
These Lambeau Field hotels are perfect for your Green Bay sports road trip, but if you have to choose, you’ll appreciate better event tickets more than an expensive hotel room. If you’re going to a Packers game, be sure to check out my guide on how to buy the best tickets for an NFL game.
